2024  Lilly had a seizure and we had her euthanized at Blue Pearl Animal Hospital

In bed at 9:30, awake at 3:45, and up at 4:20.  26°, w/c 10°, high 32°, cloudy.

Meds, etc.  Morning meds at 7 a.m.    Kevzara injection at 1 p.m.  I completely forgot to take any of my meds yesterday.  I was distracted simply by the prospect of getting washed and getting dressed for my 11 a.m. appointment with Kali Kisro, and debating whether to slather my left leg with moisturizing cream, and to gird it with a more compressive sock or less compressive one, whether to don the foot compressor and the velcro wrap or not, will she want to look at the leg or not?

Two entries on this date last year:

Life and Death: Living with Lilly in her 16th year, with daily thoughts of euthanasia.    Inexorable comparisons to myself in my 84th year.  When will it be an act of mercy, when something else?  Why do we so readily accept euthanasia for non-human animals and not for human animals?  Religion and the risk that a right to die can easily become a duty to die.

Lilly..At 8 p.m., we got home from Blue Pearl Animal Hospital, where we had Lilly euthanized.

Yesterday's visit with Kali Kisro, DNS.  As I suspected, my blood pressure continues to be high, even with the 25 mg. daily chlorthalidone.  Kali declined to change the medication because of concern over my low heart rate and put in a referral to the Cardiology Clinic (Congestive Heart Failure).  She also ordered some pulmonary function tests because of my increasing shortness of breath and x-ray evidence of interstitial lung disease.  She ran through the annual depression questionnaire and said I registered as moderate to high on its scale.  Not a big surprise.😞

I'm dreading tomorrow's VA appointment with Dr. Khalid.  I'll be leaving before 7 a.m., with the projected temperature being +7° and wind chill of -7°.
