In bed around 11, up at 6:45,? pss, 1 glass of red with dinner, another before bed.  Woke up with a distressing dream involving my mother. Plumbing issues.

. . . . . . . . . .

Lovely night with who Geri referred to as "the Fab Four" at David and Pip's house.  Nonstop conversation,  usually with all 6 involved in the conversation.  D&P building a house outside Tucson to be ready next summer, supply chain uncertainties permitting.  Dan mentioned being born in 1958, so about 64 o4 so,  recently retired.  Me the Methuselah. Conversations about the unhappiness of CG's 92-year-old mother and PL's 90-year-old mother (Enid's) with the elderly facilities in which they are currently living, their need for care, etc.  CG's mom's chronic problems with leg edema, lesions, and cellulitis, reminding me of my own similar problems, being closer in age to the confined mothers than to their daughters.

. . . . . . . . . .

Went back to bed and didn't get up till 9:45.  Plumbing settled down.

. . . . . . . . . .

Ross Douthat's opinion piece in this morning's NYT: ". . .   [American/Western] liberalism remains on a path to an unhappy destination — sterile, fragmented, stagnant, dystopian. All the optimistic chest-thumping about the Ukraine War inspiring a wider liberal revival has not altered that reality."  Isn't that exactly where we are now - sterile, fragmented, stagnant, and dystopian?  American politics, American cities.

. . . . . . . . . .

Managed to avoid watching the Packers-Giants game in London at 8:30 local time this morning and must acknowledge feeling some schadenfreude on reading that the Packers lost.  I know this is petty and that I am clearly prone to pettiness in my life, among all my faults.  Woe.  Pettiness, impatience, cowardice, exalted self-image, self-indulgence, self-pity, . . . Lord have mercy on me, a sinner . . .  I need my sister to slap me and shout SNAP OUT OF IT!

. . . . . . .

Got out of my nightshirt at 2:45, and went to work on "Last Wishes" compendium of insurance and banking and retirement account and credit card info.  Serious progress toward the goal.

. . . . . . . . . . .

Geri watched Licorice Pizza while I took care of Sunday night after-dinne1 chores.  Strange movie.

. . . . . . . . .

Overall somber day, not all that sad but subdued, perhaps from all the talk about the confined mothers last night.
