In bed at about 9:30, had many pss, at least 6, 2 glasses of red, awake at 6:30, rolled over & slept til 7:40. still tired. Today is the last hearing of the January 6 select committee, the coup de grace on Trump, and perhaps others.
January 6
Spent a good part of the day watching the proceedings of the January 6 committee. Closing argument on the perfidy of Donald Trump also raised more suspicions about the Secret Service, where their loyalties lay. A subpoena to Trump is no surprise, but why no subpoena to Pence? I imagine the committee staff has been roughing out a working draft of the committee's final report which will undoubtedly be long and detailed, with many footnotes/endnotes. It will probably also be a best seller, like the Mueller Report on 'Russia, Russia, Russia', though few will read it all, including me. An op-ed piece in this morning's NYT opined that the committee had 'failed' insofar as virtually no changes have occurred in the minds/attitudes of the American electorate. Anti-Trumpers are firmly convinced the man is evil/wicked/traitorous, etc., and pro-trumpets think January 6 was justified, the election was stolen, etc. I'm of the mind that the committee succeeded quite well in its primary mission of finding out what happened, how it happened, why it happened, etc. - making a record for history.

Drove down to the Spectrum office on Capitol Drive to exchange the cable box in my bedroom. The new one works OK but has fewer capabilities than the old ones in the TV room and sunroom. Rats.

Geri made a chicken ditalini soup yesterday which we had for dinner. Today she made one of my favorites, the vegetable beef soup. I had a big bowl of my borscht for brunch this morning, and there are still 2 good-sized bowls in the refrigeration. We're in homemade soup heaven.
