1002

In bed at 11, awake at 5:20, out of bed at 5:35. thoughts of T. S. Eliot, Hattie & the phone calls. borscht in the garage with the outside temp at 55. If it's good, where to keep all of it.

. . . . . . .

0830  Salvage successful: soup is pretty tasty, even before any salt, pepper, or other seasonings.😌😋😊

1730  OMG, Geri is having the borscht for dinner, after thinning it out with some more beef stock.   I have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner today.  Enough left over for one serving tomorrow.  BIG Buono Italian beef container of it in the freezer in the garage.  Hope it freezes OK,  will take a couple of days to thaw.  Must try to remember it's out there.

. . . . . .

The inkjet image transfer was a total bust.  I think part of the problem is the canvas substrate is not firm, so difficult to get good contact between the printer paper and the canvas before, while and after braying.  Back to the drawing board.

. . . . . . . .

Tidied up my bedroom this afternoon, mostly dusting.  Much dust, I think largely from the freeway reconstruction, but also freeway traffic itself.  In any event, taking art supplies and other stuff off bookshelves, dusting everything thing and replacing, by the time I finished my back was killing me, stayed nasty much of the afternoon, making it hard to do anything requiring movement.

. . . . . . . .

Messed around with Balustrade this evening.  Will try to give her normal-looking eyes, with colored pupils and surrounding whites.  Also tried an unbleached titanium glaze on the reddish edge of her dress, doesn't help much if at all.  May have to repaint the dress with opaque titanium white and start over.

In my old age, I have fallen victim to scrupulosity, guilt, and feelings of complicity in all the sins of the world. One of them is wasting water.  It's easy to think of water as endlessly available when you live next to the largest body of fresh water in the world, the Great Lakes.  But I know that much of the world is in drought and with climate change things are not looking good, witness the Colorado River situation, also the Oglala Aquafet, etc.  So when I let the water run as I rinse or wash dishes by hand, or when I clean my paint brushes, I know it's wasteful of a precious resource.  Then on tonight's news, I saw a report on the first professional hockey game tonight at FiServe Forum, thought of all the water used to create the ice rink, and especially thought where it would go after the game, down the tubes, like my beef broth.  Judging feelings of responsibility and irresponsibility is difficult in our culture.
