D+69,

1992 Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer pleaded guilty but insane

I received a text from Colleen today informing me that Doug broke his leg just above his ankle and was being operated on in Sarasota Hospital where the docs put a titanium plate in his leg.

In bed at 9, awake and up at 4:50.   Temperature is 12°, wind chill is -8°

Prednisone, day 244, 5 mg. + 2.5 mg., day 6.   5 mg. Prednisone at  5 a.m.   Other meds at 4:30 p.m. (whoops!)  2.5 mg. prednisone at 4:40

Busy day.   I write this at 4:45 p.m. instead of my normal 4:45 a.m.  I spent the morning reading and listening to the daily newspapers, went to Kinko's to get my memoir copied and bound so I can give one copy to Steve when he comes up on Friday to help with his Mom, then on an exploratory to find Acci-dent, then to the library to drop off books and pick up the DVD of Constantive's Sword, then home to lead Geri to Acci-Dent to get estimates on the dent and paint damage on our cars from driving Lilly to Blue Pearl on December 3, then to the Mequon Walgreen's to pick up her pre-op prescription but the pharmacy who closed for lunch, then to Glorioso's on Brady Street to pick up frozen raviolis, then back to Walgreen's to get the prescription.  By the time we got home around 2:45, I was pooped and still am as I write this.

Notr on this date two years ago:

VA Eye Clinic.  Saw Dr. Hobbe and his supervisor today. Options were trying a 4 diopter pair of reading glasses, laser surgery to remove some scar tissue around the new lens in the left eye where Tom Alpren did cataract surgery many years ago, and surgery to remove the cataract in the right eye.  I'll try the stronger reading glasses first, and see if they help. Will get an appointment in the mail for a follow-up visit in March.  On Wednesday I met and chatted with a delightful 98-year-old Army veteran of the European Theater of WW II.  Today I met "Frank" in the elevator and chatted with him on his way to the Dental Clinic next door to the Eye Clinic.  We discussed how cold days like this call for some good homemade soup and homemade bread and where one might find a ham bone in this day and age.  Delightful guy.  Another good VA hospital experience. . . . I need to start noticing the difference between vision in my left eye and in my right eye.  Just did it with the 4 diopter readers.  Left eye much clearer than right, at least when reading this entry on my laptop.  With my progressive lenses, not so much but I think again, left eye a bit clearer.  Harder to tell because of the progressive lenses.

The eyes are much worse now.  Surgery???
