Speaking truth to power yesterday, Canada's PM Mark Carney delivered a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos. New York Times: Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada delivered a stark speech in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday, prompting global political and corporate leaders in the audience to rise from their seats for a rare standing ovation.  He described the end of the era underpinned by United States hegemony, calling the current phase “a rupture.” He never mentioned President Trump by name, but his reference was clear. . . And he warned, “The middle powers must act together because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.”

Trump at Davos.  His speech was even worse than usual. Gratuitous insults to Emanuel Macron, indeed to all of Europe, wholesale disparagement of Europe generally, boundless praise of himself, and countless lies.  Beyond belief.

TACO: Trump always chickens out.  It seems like only moments after Trump's offensive, stupid, boorish speech pretending he was Harry the Hegemon, he met with the head of NATO, announced that the two of them had worked out a "framework" for an agreement on Greenland, and that the tariffs has had announced on a couple of days ago were cancelled.  All it took was unified opposition from Europe and the rest of the world, suspension of the EU-US trade negotiations, cratering of the US stock market, and spiking of bond yields.  He looks like a childish, weak paper tiger.

I can't write anything meaningful today.  I may have lost my hypergraphia, a bad sign.
